Real work for real local businesses. One case study — built right, delivered fast, fully owned.
Lotus Café · Kaimuki & Kailua, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi
Lotus Café was paying a monthly fee to a third-party restaurant website platform for a site they didn't own, couldn't fully control, and weren't getting support on. The platform had promised features that never worked properly. After the site launched, the team was unreachable. The business was stuck paying for something that wasn't doing what they needed.
Beyond the cost and broken promises, the site was generic. It looked like every other restaurant on the platform. There was no real differentiation, no brand personality, and no way to get the custom functionality the business actually needed — like a proper private events booking flow or an organized, tabbed menu system.
"They promised capabilities that didn't work and disappeared after the site launched."
We built Lotus Café a completely custom website from scratch — no templates, no platforms, no dependencies. Pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, deployed on Cloudflare Pages. The business owns every file. They can take it anywhere. There are no monthly platform fees.
The build took under a week — three full days of development. The result was six complete pages: a homepage with a video hero, a full food menu with eight tabbed categories, a drinks menu with seasonal barista specials, a private events page with a working Formspree inquiry form, a careers page with a job application form, and a thank-you confirmation page.
The site was built entirely with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no WordPress, no Shopify, no website builders. Over 3,700 lines of hand-written code across 16 files. This means the site is fast, has no unnecessary dependencies, and is completely portable.
Lotus Café now has a website that reflects their actual brand — warm, premium, local. The video hero showcases the café's atmosphere in a way no generic template ever could. The tabbed menu system makes it easy for customers to find exactly what they want. The private events flow works. The forms deliver. The ordering integration is live.
Most importantly — they own it. No platform can change their pricing, limit their features, or disappear on them. The entire site lives on Cloudflare Pages, deployed from their own files, and the business has full control over every piece of it.
The Lotus Café website is live and serving customers across Kaimuki and Kailua.
